So, what is “Hosting”?
Think of hosting as the ultimate thing to do. You'll be opening your heart and home to a child from Colombia who is looking for, and needs, the stability, security and support of a family.
You commit to hosting a child in your home for 4-5 weeks during the summer, usually starting in July (spring or winter options also available). Host families spend time getting to know a teen, building a connection, introducing them to their circle of family and friends with the goal of finding them a forever family.

What other host families say…
“As a Latino, I’ve seen that in the Hispanic cultures, we have many taboos about adoption, especially older kids. But based on my experience, I would say go for it. Go for it. You know, if you feel it, you should do it because all kids need the opportunity of feeling loved and validated, and we just had a blast. We learn so much, and it will be something that we have in our hearts, you know, for the rest of our lives. So if you’re feeling it, I think you should definitely do it. Give it a go.”
“It has been an incredible summer. If you are thinking about hosting through the Kidsave program, I can’t recommend it more highly. It is going to be a life-changing experience. For our family, we’ve been interested in adoption for a while, and it gave us just the tiniest glimpse of being a parent. It’s been a dream come true, a roller-coaster of emotions, anything that you can possibly imagine. It’s all of that and more.
“Hosting was an amazing experience. Kelly, who we hosted, was just wonderful. She was full of life, amazing, just really, really enriched our lives, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a life-changing experience. She’s amazing, all the kids are beautiful. Hosting was easy. It’s not to say that [it didn’t have] its bumps, but the integration into our lives was just very smooth and natural.”
“We are looking to adopt, and that’s why we thought this was a perfect bridge to figuring that out. We had a wonderful time. I think this has been an incredibly rewarding experience. We have had just the most fun in these past five weeks, and I highly recommend it. If people try this program, you will love the experience. The kids are amazing, smart, great kids to be with.”
“I hosted an amazing kid – his name is Owen and he’s 12 years old – and it was an amazing experience. During the five weeks I learned many things about Owen; I found out that he loves singing so every night we listen to music and sometimes we did karaoke in my house. Singing and dancing very loud. He showed me how to cut the mango for him, which I thought was amazing 'cause I didn't know how to cut the mango for him. … This (saying goodbye) is the hardest part.”
