Spooky Fun!

With Halloween quickly approaching, our most recent Houston Meet the Kids event was about the spooky season. Everyone got to enjoy themselves in the Mendenhall Community Center in northwest Houston. We learned more about each kid as they expressed their creativity with a Hocus Pocus 2-inspired arts and crafts activity.
October’s creative activity centered around love for books, as the kids redesigned covers to resemble the books from the movie ‘Hocus Pocus’! A donation of old law books received a revamped style unique to each youth in foster care. Each kid released their inner creativity and used their imagination to design an outstanding work of art.
Although the inspiration was from the same movie, no two books were identical – just like the Kidsave kids’ personalities! The kids, using paint and glue, covered the books with unique details and brought their magic to life.
Of course, we couldn’t forget our birthdays. We celebrated the spooky October birthdays in style with four beautiful cakes, one for each birthday kid. Each cake was donated by Converted Cakes & Bakery LLC, which is a local small business owner, and Kidsave family : Brianna, MyAdrian, Shy & Charlie
From singing happy birthday to enjoying the cake, everyone was excited to participate in celebrating the monthly birthdays together!
Join us for our Fall Festival this November, where we will have another set of exciting activities and games.
About Weekend Miracles
There are many wonderful kids in our Weekend Miracles program in need of a host or adoptive families. These older kids in foster care are growing up without the stability and love that all kids need to thrive. If you’re interested in adopting or hosting an older kid, please contact us. We’re happy to answer any questions and help you get started. Email us at weekendmiracles@kidsave.org to learn more.
