Sandy y su hermana gemela, Mandy, son inseparables. Ambas viven en un hogar de acogida en Colombia, pero estos días están de visita en Queens.
Una de las gemelas comenta: “Cuando yo era pequeñita dije: ‘yo quiero ir a Estados Unidos'. Y también quería ir a Nueva York y mire, todo se me cumplió”.
Ellas son parte de un grupo de 45 niños colombianos beneficiados por el programa Summer Miracles, una iniciativa que brinda a huérfanos entre 11 y 14 años la oportunidad de quedarse con familias anfitrionas estadounidenses durante una visita de verano de 4 a 5 semanas y la posibilidad de que sean adoptadas por esas familias.

Sandy and her twin sister, Mandy, are inseparable. Both live in a foster home in Colombia, but these days they are visiting Queens.
