On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we honor a man who stood for equality and justice. We reflect on his ideas and actions, and we remind ourselves of our unyielding responsibility to advocate for others. We never forget the work that men and women like Martin Luther King Jr did to challenge the status quo and stagnant complacency in the face of injustice. Because of their work, our world will never be the same.

His famous words echo throughout history and are messages we should teach our children today:

“An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.”

“Life's most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?”

“Everybody can be great…because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”

At Kidsave, we hold these truths close as we envision a world where all children can access opportunity and achievement. A world where all children can realize their fullest potential.

To achieve this reality, we serve as a global voice for change. We work with governments and communities worldwide to see that every child can grow up in a family with love and hope for a successful future.  And through our programs, we directly help children growing up in foster care find their forever families. We hope that through our work, we can change not only children's lives but also the lives of whole communities.

We ask that you take on the challenge to do something in the service of others today. Get involved in MLK National Day of Service. And join us in ensuring all children have the love, support, safety, education, and opportunity they need to succeed. Your support makes all the difference. Learn more about ways to get involved.

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day from all of us at Kidsave!
