Los Angeles was aglow with holiday cheer last weekend as Kidsave hosted its 2024 holiday event at Servicon, a gathering filled with joy, connection, and the spirit of giving. The event, graciously hosted by longtime supporter Natalie Mahdesian, brought together older kids in foster care, potential forever families, and mentors for an afternoon filled with laughter and gifts.
Servicon’s venue greeted attendees with the warm ambiance of twinkling lights and the sound of cheerful holiday music. For children in foster care, the holidays can often feel like a stark reminder of what’s missing. This event flipped the narrative, creating a space where these incredible young people could simply be kids—playing games, enjoying delicious treats, and reveling in the holiday spirit.
The event included a playground of activities, with games that kept the kids laughing and engaged.
One of the highlights of the afternoon was a visit from Santa Claus himself. Trading his reindeer for a loyal husky, Santa made a grand entrance, bringing a touch of magic to the celebration. The kids' eyes lit up as he handed out gifts and posed for photos.
Beyond the festivities, the event was an opportunity for these older kids—who often face an uphill battle in the foster care system—to connect with potential forever families and mentors. Conversations unfolded naturally over shared moments of joy, offering both the kids and attendees a chance to build meaningful relationships in a festive setting.
As the celebration ended, it was clear that the event wasn’t just about holiday cheer—it was about hope. For these kids, the presence of caring adults and the promise of a brighter future carried far more weight than any gift under the tree.
About Weekend Miracles
Many wonderful kids in our Weekend Miracles program need a mentor, host, or adoptive family. These older kids in foster care are growing up without the stability and love that all kids need to thrive. If you want to adopt or host an older child, please contact us.
