Washington, DC and Los Angeles—Kidsave, an organization that advocates for the adoption of older children growing up in orphanages and foster care, announces the appointment of Iris Drayton-Spann, Vice President of Human Resources and Organizational Development for WETA-TV in Arlington, Virginia, to Kidsave’s Board of Trustees.
“Iris Drayton-Spann, an accomplished human resource executive who has vigor and enthusiasm to roll up her sleeves and advocate for kids, will be an invaluable asset to our Board. We will especially look to Iris as we continue to develop the management and staff infrastructure necessary for Kidsave’s long-term sustainability and growth,” said CEO and President Randi Thompson. “Iris is not only award-winning in her field, but she also understands specialized needs of non-profits with many years of experience in the sector.”
Drayton-Spann was recently named one of DCA Live’s 2019 HR Leaders of the Year, an award reserved for exemplary non-profit leaders in the DC region. In her role at WETA, the leading public broadcasting company in the nation’s capital, Drayton-Spann promotes positive employee relations and acts as a trusted adviser on human resources issues. She is responsible for developing and implementing programs for staffing, employee relations, benefits, performance management, compensation, compliance, and professional development for over 300 employees. Iris was previously the Vice President of Human Resources at Goodwill Industries International, Inc. (GII) Member Services Center located in Rockville, MD.
Drayton-Spann joined Kidsave’s Board of Trustees because she believes in Kidsave’s goal to find families and lifelong connections for older orphans and foster children. As a parent, she stands behind Kidsave’s mission and works towards a future where every child should have an opportunity for success with the support and love of parents they can rely on.
“I want to provide my knowledge, skills, and expertise to the Kidsave Board so that I can make an impact on this organization's future goals,” said Drayton-Spann. “Kidsave’s local, national and international footprint is very impressive, because diverse voices, children and needs are being heard and served.”
