weekend miracles
LOS ANGELES | HOUSTON | VIRGINA
The Weekend Miracles program connects older kids and teens with mentors, host families, or adoptive families.
This year, we expanded this program to the Commonwealth of Virginia, with its inaugural event kicking off this December.
In Los Angeles, we served 67 kids throughout the year, and 51% of our active participants have been connected to potential forever families or mentors.
In Houston, 45 kids were served, and 41% of active participants have been connected.
What sets us apart is that we give each kid a voice and a choice in who they want to know better and who might ultimately become their forever family.
With your support we can continue to make these life-changing connections

SUMMER/WINTER MIRACLES
For over 25 years, Kidsave’s Summer and Winter Miracles programs have been connecting children with loving families. Our current program brings older orphans from Colombia—where reunification and adoption efforts have been exhausted in their home country—to the US to stay with hosts and meet potential forever families.
For many of the kids in this program, it's their very last chance at finding a family. And it works!
This past July, 29 kids traveled from Colombia to participate in our Summer Miracles program, and were hosted by families in New York, New Jersey, Florida, Texas, Washington, Maryland, Illinois, California, Colorado, and Georgia. We’re pleased to announce that 86% of those kids are already on the journey towards adoption.
This December, another nine kids are being hosted across the US by families keen to open their hearts and homes to these amazing kids and help them realize the joy of family this holiday season.
Help change a life this Holiday Season by supporting our Summer and Winter Miracles programs.

UKRAINE
Since 2016, Kidsave’s Ukraine program has been helping orphaned youth find support and family. Our work has continued despite the challenges of the war. This year, we were proud to open the Kidsave Miracles Center in western Ukraine.
Over the summer, 30 children were able to escape the turmoil of war and receive respite and therapeutic services at the Kidsave Miracles Center.
While adoptions are currently paused in Ukraine, Kidsave continues to move children out of crowded orphanages. This year, we moved 53 children into family homes in Ukraine.
In addition, our Corporate Mentoring program, Pathways to Success, continues to give older youth in care the opportunity to connect with professional mentors and thrive. This year, 246 teens participated in our Pathway to Success program.
With your help, we can continue to support children who need families in Ukraine.

SIERRA LEONE
So far this year in Sierra Leone, we have placed 148 kids with families. Our goal is to place 200 kids by 2025.
Two of these kids were siblings Albert and Mary, orphaned after losing both their parents to Ebola. This year, thanks to the hard work of our Kidsave team, we managed to track down Albert and Mary’s only living relative, their Autie, Kadiatu, and reunite them.
Albert and Mary had been without family since 2015, and after so long wishing to have a family to call their own, they were overjoyed to be out of the orphanage and reunited with their aunt.
In addition to placing kids with families, our Sierra Leone program focuses on capacity building within the local communities. Our team trains local caseworkers and provides trainings to the community on the rights of children and gender-based violence prevention.
Help us continue to make lasting change in Sierra Leone by supporting Kidsave.

EMBRACE PROJECT
In 2023, Kidsave initiated the EMBRACE Project: Expanding Meaningful Black Relationships And Creating Equity.
In the U.S., Black youth are overrepresented in foster care and underrepresented in rates of adoption. We wanted to find the root causes of this imbalance and plot a path toward improving outcomes for Black youth in care.
Partnering with Gallup Research, we launched a multi-year, research-driven initiative to bridge the racial gaps within the child welfare system and create a future in which more Black youth can thrive.
To date, we have completed in-depth qualitative and quantitative research to help inform the changes that are needed within the child welfare system and found that greater outreach to the Black community can help improve mentoring and adoption rates.
As we head into a new year, we are developing and launching a peer-to-peer support program for foster and adoptive families and implementing culturally responsive training for all Kidsave families.
Help us continue to create positive change for Black youth and families in child welfare by supporting Kidsave.
