For the March 2024 LA Weekend Miracles event, Kidsave rolled out the red carpet of fun at Optimist Youth Homes and Family Services in sunny Los Angeles. Optimist Youth Homes and Family Services has been doing their part to help improve outcomes for at-risk foster youth in Los Angeles for over a decade! The day was a blast from start to finish and brought older kids in foster care together with potential forever families and host families together to create meaningful connections.
The day kicked off with the kids diving headfirst into games and activities. Spirited soccer showdowns, hilarious relay races using hula hoops, epic dodgeball battles—you name it!
One of the coolest parts? The chance for kids to mix and mingle with potential forever families and host families. It wasn’t just fun and games; it was about building connections and imagining what a loving family dynamic could look like.
And for lunch, there were mouthwatering steak and chicken burritos. A delicious way to fuel up for more games and heart-to-heart chats. Bellies full, spirits high, and connections growing stronger by the minute.
Mother Nature even joined in on the fun, giving us glorious sunshine for most of the day. There was a time in the afternoon when rain clouds decided to make a cameo appearance, but did it dampen our spirits? Not a chance! The fun kept going strong, rain or shine.
Before heading home from the day’s festivities, there was one more surprise in store! Necessary Looks generously donated some fabulous clothes for the kids. Smiling faces eagerly “shopped” through the racks, picking out cool fits to take home.
In the end, Kidsave’s Weekend Miracles event brought older kids hoping for the love and support of family together with caring adults who may help fulfill that dream. Here’s to next month’s event and more laughs, hugs, and unforgettable memories being made!
