A Day of Games, Joy, and Love
At the Weekend Miracles event on May 21st, 25 kids and 24 adults had a wonderful time at the beautiful Loma Alta Park in Los Angeles. Before the day’s activities began, everyone sat down to enjoy a delicious lunch together, which was a great opportunity for the kids and adults to make conversations and get to know each other. After lunch, the kids were divided into several groups to take turns playing different games.

There were many fun and creative games designed for the kids to enjoy, including hula hoop competitions, throwing and catching ping-pong balls, flipping pencils into cups, and more! The kids were having a lot of fun competing with each other, while the adults and volunteers patiently guided, encouraged, and cheered them on.
Sophia Han, one of our newest Communications Intern at Kidsave, attended the weekend’s event and saw Kidsave’s work firsthand. “As a Kidsave intern, this is the first Weekend Miracles event I have attended. I really enjoyed seeing how the kids and adults were bonding while playing games,” said Sophia. “My favorite part of the event was when everyone gathered to watch the champion round of the pencil-flipping game. It’s very impressive that some kids grasped the gist of the game quickly. Every kid received tons of cheering from the adults and other kids. I love how everyone was so friendly and showed a lot of love and support.”
The winner of the champion round was Max, a shy but observant little boy who’s looking for a forever family. He was initially very reluctant to participate, but with the encouragement of the adults and volunteers, he gradually began to enjoy the games. He had the biggest smile on his face when everyone was cheering for him for winning the champion round.
“It’s very heartbreaking to imagine these kids growing up without families,” said Sophia. “Especially as they grow older, it’s typically more difficult for them to find forever families. I’m very proud to be part of the team that is doing the best we can to give them guidance and support while we work to find them a loving forever family.”
About Weekend Miracles
There are many wonderful kids in our Weekend Miracles program in need of a mentor, host, or adoptive family.
