Kidsave’s 19th Annual MiracleMakers Golf Classic
Kidsave held our 19th Annual MiracleMakers Classic Golf fundraiser at the MountainGate Country Club in Los Angeles. It was a lovely, warm day, and more than 120 golfers and supporters gathered from across Los Angeles to raise funds in support of Kidsave’s mission, all while having fun! Aside from golf, the day included raffles, silent and live auctions, and a cocktail dinner in the evening with an exceptional guest speaker – one of our Kidsave success stories!
The Day
As folks began arriving, we couldn’t wait to get started. It was morning; golfers gathered and mingled while preparing to enjoy the day. They indulged in a light breakfast, checked themselves in, and chattered excitedly about the upcoming festivities. When it was time to get started, the golfers hopped in carts and set out across the beautiful course.
We were fortunate to have Jerry Porter, our Tournament Chair, join us. Another special guest at this year’s Golf Classic was former Kidsave Kid, Danny. During the cocktail hour, he gave a moving speech about how he met his dads – Mike and Tom – through our Weekend Miracles program.
“Over time,” said Danny, “I got to know them for the truly wonderful people that they are.” Danny continued, “and they got to know me for the smart, charming, athletically gifted, and humble kid that I am.” The room laughed at Danny’s joke, and his speech was the perfect reminder of our mission and the importance of family.
As Danny took his seat, we segued into the live auction. Exciting items were up for grabs – including a stay in a gorgeous Telluride home, dinner at Danny Magic’s Magic Castle, and much more. Folks let their competitive spirit loose, but all in good fun and for a good cause.
It was truly a day to remember.
