Meet the LA Kids Needing Families

If you are interested in learning more about any of the children needing families, please contact Lauren Reicher Gordon at Lauren@kidsave.org

Eclasia

LA Weekend MiraclesEclasia It doesn't take long to realize Eclasia is a special young lady. The "E" in Eclasia's name should stand for enthusiasm, as she possesses so much of it! "Clay" (as she likes to be called) is a warm, engaging and intelligent teenager who was born in 1991. She will gladly tell you about all the things in life that she enjoys - everything from eating, singing, and dancing to reading, talking on the phone with friends and 'surfing the web'. In fact, there are very few things that Eclasia does not enjoy! Well, there is math... a subject she would prefer avoiding entirely but knows doing so is not an option. English is definitely her favorite school subject and she prides herself on her academic achievements in this area.

Eclasia describes herself as "silly, fun and lovable" and she dreams of attending college and traveling. She hopes to find a family that can love and support her goals and dreams as well as share her wonderful enthusiasm for life.

Eclasia is currently being hosted on the weekends by a family who is partnering with Kidsave to find her an adoptive family.

Tawanesha

LA Weekend MiraclesTawanesha is a traveler at heart, just waiting for wings to begin an adventure. How about a trip to Belize? Just give our fashion forward friend a few minutes to pack her favorite clothes (sure to include some pink). Equally open to new faces, places, or learning a skill, this enthusiastic 15-years-old explorer has no trouble finding captivating opportunities without leaving the ground.

Tawanesha ranks the school subjects of science and art as the most stimulating and engaging, but also has a passion for writing and a hankering to try her hand at journalism. Blessed with the athletic grace of the natural, if you're speedy you might catch up with this quick runner racing around a track or going long for the pass in a pick-up game of football. In her free time she tunes her radio to rap and hip-hop or might be found sketching or practicing her crotchet. Tawanesha's heart melts for furry friends and one day she would like to combine her affinity with animals and her interest in science as a veterinarian, nursing sick animals back to health.

More than anything Tawanesha would like to embark on the adventure of belonging to a permanent family. She is willing to relocate out of state if needed (always ready for travel), but would like to keep connections with local extended relatives and friends.

Tawanesha is currently being hosted on the weekends by a family who is partnering with Kidsave to find her an adoptive family.

Maricela

LA Weekend MiraclesMaricela, who prefers to be called “Mari,” is an intelligent, soft-spoken, funny and friendly sixteen year old girl. Instead of spending her time on the internet or texting like most teenagers do, Mari focuses on her schoolwork and extracurricular activities as she plans on one day attending UCLA and studying forensics.

After just one conversation with Mari one can see her maturity shine through. She loves to talk about her love for music which ranges from classical artists such as Mozart and Bach to current popular music such as hip-hop and R&B. Mari is not one to just sit back and listen to music on the radio. She takes her love of music to the next level as she has been a member of her school band for a number of years. She participates in national and regional competitions and even has a couple of first prize awards under her belt!

Mari’s diverse taste extends beyond her taste in music. She enjoys hands-on activities such as baking, cooking and scrapbooking but is also not afraid to get her hands dirty and partake in outdoor activities. Mari is a well- rounded all around great kid. Mari has been in the system for a number of years and was in a stable placement for the majority of that time. However, recently things have changed and while Mari has adjusted quite well she definitely needs the love and support from caring and understanding adults.

Maricela is currently being hosted by a family through Kidsave who is partnering to find her an adoptive family.

Aaron

LA Weekend MiraclesAaron, born in 1993, absolutely loves to talk about basketball and would love the opportunity to attend a Clippers game. He also enjoys other activities such as playing baseball and video games. Aaron is in the eighth grade and is very proud of his good grades. Math and reading are his favorite subjects. When asked what he would like to do when he grows up, he states that he would like to be a policeman. Aaron has very specific (and expensive) tastes when it comes to the type of car he would like to have one day, stating (without hesitation) "a Ferrari."

Aaron recently broke his arm but had the best time collecting signatures from friends! He will be the first person – broken limbs or no – to welcome you with a bear hug!

Aaron is currently being hosted on the weekends by a family who is partnering with Kidsave to find him an adoptive family.

Eric

LA Weekend Miracles Meet Eric, a charismatic boy with an inquiring mind. Born in 1994, this bright child possesses an overall interest in learning about new things and loves to ask questions! Eric enjoys school and reports that his favorite subjects are spelling and math. Even at this early age he is already talking about his desire to go to college. He states, "I know that lots of kids don't want to go to college, but I do." Eric is also compassionate by nature. When asked about what he would like to be when he grows up, he reports that he wants to help other people. After a moment’s reflection, he adds, "Who knows, maybe I'll be President one day!"

Eric just loves being the center of attention, too. He enjoys a number of different sports, is happy to demonstrate his athletic abilities for all those interested and hopes to find a future family that is also active. Eric can relate well to both adults and peers. He would do well in a home where he is the only child and looks forward to having a permanent family that will guide and love him unconditionally. Inquiring minds want to know, are you the adoptive family for Eric?

Eric currently has a host family who is partnering with him to find an adoptive family.

Anthony

LA Weekend MiraclesAnthony is a gentle and quiet youth with a kind sense of humor that enjoys helping others. Anthnoy was born in 1991. Some of his interests include cooking, music (especially jazz), computers, video games, and visiting new places. Anthony can be shy when you first meet, but with a little coaxing his sweet smile and sense of humor emerge and overcome the initial timidness. He has some mild developmental delays that impact his learning, but Anthony is also quite thoughtful and very considerate of others. He has only been in foster care for a few years and yearns to be part of a family again. Anthony wishes to be part of a committed and supportive family looking to make him a lifetime member of their forever family.

Anthony currently has a host family who is partnering with him to find an adoptive family.

Ricky

LA Weekend Miracles Richard, who likes to go by "Ricky" is a handsome and intelligent boy who has a passion for two things — spending time at the beach or playing on the computer. Born in 1992, Ricky dreams of becoming a computer programmer one day. His other interests include skateboarding, playing basketball and swimming. He recently had a chance to use a digital camera for the first time and found that he is a natural photographer! He loves to learn new things and when introduced to something interesting and challenging, he becomes completely engaged and focused.

Ricky looks forward to becoming part of a permanent family who can provide him with all the love, support and encouragement that he needs to become a happy and successful adult.

Ricky is currently being hosted on weekends by a family who is partnering with Kidsave to find him an adoptive family.

Francheska

LA Weekend MiraclesWhen asked what word she would use to describe herself, Francheska’s quick to say “Goofy!” Francheska loves to spend silly times with friends, dancing around and singing. As goofy as she may be, she is also fun, outgoing, caring and loving – qualities that are easy to see and ones that people in her life would affirm in her. Born in 1991, Francheska is a people-magnet and has been quick to make friends as she has moved through life. She is sincere and genuine, and likes to be helpful and supportive in her relationships.

Besides her resilient personality, Francheska will tell you how much she loves music and how it always helps her get through the day. Music is calming for Francheska, and she uses it as a way to soothe herself when having a rough time.

Francheska is working hard in school, as her dream is to go to college (UC Berkeley is top on her list…go Bears!) and eventually become a psychologist. She knows she’ll have to work hard to reach her dreams, and has been prioritizing school and her studies to try to get ahead.

Ultimately, Francheska dreams about a family who will help launch her into the next stages of her life.

Francheska is currently being hosted on the weekends by a family who is partnering with Kidsave to find her an adoptive family.
