Meet the LA Kids Needing Families

If you are interested in learning more about any of the children needing families, please contact Lauren Reicher Gordon at Lauren@kidsave.org

Christian and Moises

LA Weekend MiraclesChristian and Moises are two polite and sweet young brothers who are part of a larger sibling group. Christian and Moises are the youngest and are currently unable to live together and therefore cannot see each other as much as they would like to. When they do spend time together, however, you can see that the physical distance has not dissipated the brotherly bond that they share.

Christian is an avid Star Wars fan and is more quiet and reserved whereby Moises considers himself to be more outdoorsy and active. Moises plays soccer and likes to keep up with the trends at his middle school such as sporting a stylish spiky haircut. While on the surface the boys seem to be as different as night and day, in reality they both share a sweet demeanor and calm nature that comes through within a few minutes of interacting with them. Sure the Medina boys argue like all siblings do but at the end of the day they compromise and make up knowing that family comes first. The boys would love to be able to live together again like they once used to. Could you make their dream a reality?

Christian and Moises have a host family partnering with them to find an adoptive family.

DeShawn

LA Weekend MiraclesDeShawn
Born in 1991, dashing DeShawn is warm and well mannered with a child's heart and the budding maturity of a youth seeking greater responsibility. Sometimes shy, Deshawn might take refuge behind a pair of paparazzi dodging sunglasses. But once he takes off the shades, the twinkle in his eyes reveals his sparkling personality and warm nature. Once you convince our bashful boy to bust out his dance skills—be prepared to be dazzled. His perfect rhythm and easy flowing steps slip into pops, locks, and the splits with effortless grace.

DeShawn's academic interests are diverse, but he is fascinated by computer science and plans to go to college. If his future career as a professional basketball player doesn't work out, he is strongly considering the tech industry as a second choice. Although DeShawn knows some of his interests and plans may change, the dream of a family persists. As DeShawn becomes more independent and takes on new responsibilities he can see that there are many first steps he will be taking in the coming years. Could you be the parent and friend to lead this sensitive child as he tries out the many first steps that await him?

DeShawn is currently being hosted on the weekends by a family who is partnering with Kidsave to find him an adoptive family.

Rene

LA Weekend MiraclesRene is a playful, friendly and charming 15-year-old teenager who is very active and enjoys doing things outdoors such as fishing and going to the beach. Rene also likes to watch movies, play video games, ride bike and dance. His favorite TV program is World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and his favorite food is fried fish.

Rene has goals and aspirations and while he sometimes struggles in school, he stays focused and reads above grade level. This is a young man who knows what he wants in life -- including his desire to travel to Mexico to explore his heritage one day. Currently though, Rene is looking for a family that shares some of his cultural heritage and that can provide him structure and support in a loving and active environment. If you could see your family as the one that can cheer Rene on to all that he is meant to be, give us a call.

Rene is currently hosted by a family who is in partnership with Kidsave.

Dion’tre

LA Weekend MiraclesBorn in 1992 Dion’tre “Tre” is a handsome African American boy with an optimistic attitude on life. Although he may appear shy at first, Tre is charming, expressive, and has a great sense of humor. When asked about his hobbies and interests, Tre will tell you about his love for football (he played for his school team) and cooking. Tre is also an avid skateboarder who enjoys practicing new moves with his friends and has aspirations of one day becoming a chef or professional skateboarder. He describes himself as independent, and demonstrates this independence by doing his own laundry and cooking. However, even with his independent nature, Tre longs to be a part of an active, loving family, who will provide him with support and encouragement. Come and get to know Tre and if you’re lucky, he might cook a meal for you!

Dion’tre currently has a host family who is partnering with him to find an adoptive family.

Selena

LA Weekend MiraclesSelena, born in 1995, is a very bright and insightful young woman. She is more serious in her nature than her brother Lon, however after spending some time with her, her warmth and sincerity shine through. Selena possesses a very generous quality as well – her foster mother reports that Selena will often make her gifts, “just because.”

Selena excels academically, earning her place in the gifted class at school. She loves to read and write and shows remarkable maturity for her age. She takes pride in her academic performance and she also enjoys learning new things. In a recent Kidsave trip to the Getty Museum, she demonstrated her inquisitiveness by asking questions on the architectural tour and commenting on the make of the buildings.

Selena is currently being hosted on the weekends by a family who is partnering with Kidsave to find her an adoptive family.

Jacob A

LA Weekend MiraclesJacob is a fifteen year old Latino youth with a kind heart and a warm smile. Once you meet Jacob you will see what a sweet and respectful person he truly is. Jacob is a generous and thoughtful individual who does not mind sharing with others. Jacob loves to play basketball, video games and enjoys going to the movies. In his spare time, Jacob likes to listen to music in his room and spending some time to himself. He is independent and likes to know what is expected of him. Jacob is interested in automotive mechanics and is hoping to participate in an auto mechanic’s program soon. Jacob is in need of a loving home that can provide a very structured environment. Jacob needs a family that can provide consistency, stability and support to help him reach his full potential.

Jacob currently has a host family who is partnering with him to find an adoptive family.

Deon

LA Weekend MiraclesDeon is a young man that may be small for his age but has a large personality. Deon has difficulty opening up to people right away therefore if you get him on a one-one one basis sometimes he comes off as quiet and guarded. However, put him in a room with other kids or big groups of people and this is where he becomes a social butterfly. Deon loves to be active and therefore it can be hard to keep his interest for long periods of time but give him a skateboard or a computer and you will sure win his heart! Deon requires someone with a lot of love and patience and would do best in a home where he was a single child. Like many of the kids who grew up in foster care, he has been through a lot and therefore tends to have difficulties with trust. However, if you do not give up on him, with time he opens up to you and if you are lucky you will get to experience the joy in receiving one of his signature ear to ear smiles!

Deon currently has a host family who is partnering with him to find an adoptive family.
